Zig ZiglarZig Ziglar was a great man who motivated many to achieve life altering goals and achieve success. Born in 1926 he knew the key to successful engaging audiences and the principles that he used are appropriate to engaging audiences on social media channels.

Looking at Zig Ziglar we learn three key principles that if followed will help you to be successful in engaging your audiences on social media channels. The three things that we learn from Zig Ziglar are:

  1. Be original
  2. Be a quotable
  3. Be Inspiring

Be original

Often times, you have heard it said that when it comes to social media content is King. But really, that is not the case. There is one word that is always left out, and that is the word original. When it comes to social media original content is King! This is not to say that there is not a place for curated content. Additionally, trending topics can be a great source of inspiration since they tell you what is on the minds of the community. However, many blogs are filled with regurgitated content. Different people saying the same thing that they all read from the same source.

So when it comes to social media we can take a lesson from Zig Ziglar by not just publishing content, but creating original content. Zig Ziglar was original and though many would endeavor to emulate him, he still remained himself and stayed original. So take a lesson from Zig Ziglar and be original with the content that you post.

Be quotable

Zig Ziglar is often quoted by others. This too is a key to success with engaging your audience on social media channels. You need to be quotable. What is it that makes you quotable? Short memorable phrases that people connect with and remember. It does not necessarily have to be something profound. Many of his quotes were fundamental truths that we all know and hold dear. SO using things that are commonly understood will make for quotable moments. It is like Zig Ziglar said “It’s not what you’ve got, it’s what you use that makes a difference.”

Be Inspiring

As motivational speaker, Zig Ziglar inspired people to do things that they may have thought were impossible. one of the ways that he did those was through the art of storytelling. He would tell stories that people could relate to. People could see themselves in the situations that he would describe. And through the stories that he told he inspired people. To be successful in engaging your audience on social media channels you to need to tell inspiring stories. anyone can get the facts, there is a plethora of data on the social web. People want and need stories to inspire them to help them to see how they can be part of the community that you are building. Through the art of storytelling you help your audience see where they fit in.

When Zig Ziglar told a story it had meaning. He did not tell a story for the sake of telling a story, he told a story to teach a lesson. He told stories to inspire. In your initiatives to engage people on social media channels tell stories that inspire.
